Motivational/Inspirational Speaker – Kevin Meyers – Making a difference!

Tandem Cycle Racing

I lost my sight in a boat racing accident in 1987.  I have participated in downhill/cross country skiing, car racing, bowling, parachuting, and biking activities since then.  Recreational tandem bike rides have become my favorite sport activity.  I take pleasure in going on these rides with the added challenge to ride faster.

Bob Springer and Kevin at 2012 track national championships Kilo raceI attended a tandem bike racing development camp in 2008 sponsored by the United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA).  After the camp I realized what I had missed for many years…the thrill and excitement of racing!

My track pilot Bob Springer and I attended the 2012 US Elite/Para Track Nationals in Carson, California at the Home Depot indoor track. This was an awesome event as Bob and I won gold medals for the Kilo and Flying 200 meter events. We also won a silver medal for the 4K Pursuit. Winning a gold medal crowns Bob and I 2012 Track National Champions…not just once…but twice!
